Dear Supporters and Friends of The University of New Mexico,

As we close the books on Fiscal Year 2025, it’s worth pausing to look beyond the totals and consider what they represent. Every gift tells a story of someone who believes that education is more than the pursuit of knowledge. It is an investment in opportunity and shared progress.

Thanks to that belief, the UNM Foundation raised over $115 million this year in support of students, faculty, research, healthcare, athletics, and other programs across the university. This marks our fourth year exceeding $100 million, a milestone that reflects both your generosity and the growing capacity of this community to turn shared vision into measurable impact. Each contribution strengthens the systems that help students thrive, drive innovation, and expand access to the kind of education that changes lives and communities alike. Each gift this year carries a quiet yet powerful story of transformation:

  • Relieving Burden: A $2.8 million endowment gives medical students the freedom to focus on healing and service rather than debt.

  • Advancing Opportunity: A $1.5 million fund in Enrollment Management strengthens scholarships and student success programs, ensuring that potential, not circumstance, defines one’s future.

  • Expanding Access: A $3 million scholarship now opens doors for Native American students in the arts and sciences, empowering the next generation of thinkers and creators.

  • Elevating Faculty: A $900,000 endowed fund in medicine advances academic leadership and mentorship, while a $100,000 endowment in psychology deepens our understanding of the human mind.

  • Fueling Discovery: A $500,000 research fund drives innovation in cancer care, and another $600,000 gift propels biomedical studies from the lab to the bedside.

  • Expanding Horizons: A $600,000 endowment in physics and astronomy extends the reach of inquiry itself, helping UNM scholars explore the vast unknown.

  • Strengthening Community:

University Libraries received $7.4 million to expand long-term access to knowledge and creativity for future generations.

The Harwood Foundation gained $2.3 million in support to sustain New Mexico’s artistic spirit and cultural legacy.

Athletics received $1.5 million to enhance training, academic support, and opportunities that help student-athletes succeed on the field and in the classroom.

UNM Children’s Hospital received more than $1.8 million to continue delivering care, comfort, and hope to families across New Mexico.

These are more than just examples and numbers on a ledger. They symbolize students who found opportunities, ideas that became discoveries, and communities that grew stronger through collaboration and care.

Across UNM, our faculty, staff, and partners are preparing for the public launch of our comprehensive campaign next fall, designed to unlock human potential, address the defining challenges of our time, and drive the innovation that will shape New Mexico’s future.

This Annual Report of Giving reflects a year's worth of results. It captures the cumulative impact of your trust and partnership, and how one investment can ripple outward, changing many lives.

I hope you enjoy the inspiring story of Tom and Carolyn Minton, whose lifelong dedication to UNM exemplifies what it means to give back and look forward. I encourage you to read their story as a reminder of how individual choices can strengthen entire communities.

On behalf of the UNM Foundation, thank you for your ongoing support of this mission.

With appreciation,
Jeff Todd

Welcome from our CEO and President, Jeff Todd

Still Thankful

Carolyn and Tom Minton have been steadfast UNM donors since 1976

In the summer of 1963, Tom Minton (BS ’68) had just graduated from Taos High School and was looking forward to his freshman year at UNM in Albuquerque. But truth be told, he wasn’t quite sure how his family would manage the cost of tuition.
